Bailey Flynn is on her way to achieving her musical dreams. She wants to sing and tour internationally. She has recorded an album and is performing at the local music festival. As she begins singing, she is interrupted with awful news and runs off the stage. What happened is so traumatizing to Bailey that she spends the next six years avoiding her hometown and the memory of that horrible night. She moves away from Oak Plains and begins a job as a talent scout for a music producer. As she begins working with a new musician, she is reminded of her beginning. Bailey misses her hometown, her sister, and all those familiar places. Gathering up her strength, Bailey decides to visit her sister. She knows that to move forward, she will have to let go of the past. Can Bailey do this?

In the character of Bailey, there is deep sadness. She holds herself responsible for the events that led to her leaving. Letting go of that guilt will be difficult. Six years have changed many things in her hometown, but to appreciate the change, Bailey needs to move on. Bailey represents us all, trying to move on but unsure of our next steps. Bailey’s big sister, Cassidy, has decided Bailey has floundered for long enough. She wants to help Bailey, will she succeed? Elena Goudelias thoughtfully explores the dynamics of sisterhood, friendship, family, and forgiveness. In all the time since the accident, Bailey has never sought forgiveness. Bailey is a sympathetic character you will pull for as she works to release the demons of the past. You want to see her thrive. This book is classified as a romance, if you don’t typically read them, do not let that stop you from picking it up. The romance is believable, balanced, and thoroughly enjoyable. This is Book #1 in the series, it will be interesting to see what the author has planned for the second book.
