Two Like Me and You by Chad Allen Gibbs

I won this e-book on Goodreads.

It’s been a year since Edwin Green’s Black Sunday. On that particular Sunday, his recently famous girlfriend texted him to say that she no longer wanted to be his girlfriend. Understandably, he was devastated. A year later, still devastated.

Edwin Green was a quiet unassuming sort of teenager. He had no desire to stand out, being a face in the crowd was what he wanted. One day his life changed. Sadie Evans, the preacher’s daughter, decided that she liked him. She began inviting him to church with her. At a youth group trip to the baseball game, they found themselves featured on the kiss cam. Sadie decided to take advantage of the moment and she was noticed by a Hollywood agent.

Sadie left Edwin behind. The memory of her lingered and Edwin kept being reminded of her. Until the day Edwin met Parker Haddaway. She was new at their school and had successfully fended off all interested guys. Why would she be interested in Edwin? Edwin’s life begins to change. He goes to a nursing home to interview an elderly gentleman that was a soldier in World War II. And so begins the adventure as Edwin, Parker, and Garland Lenox travel to France to find Garland’s long lost love.

The adventure is hilarious! Chad Allen Gibbs tells a story that is equal parts warm, funny, and poignant. The characters that he has crafted are believable and you can easily imagine running into them anywhere. My favorite parts are where the revelation of the small details leave you laughing. I read this book off and on during the first major week of Covid-19. It was a wonderful and welcome escape from the current anxiety of life. This book is one that both young adults and adults can read and enjoy. The story flows and moves so quickly that you feel sad when it’s finished.

I recommend this book. It would be one that both parents and their teens could read together and enjoy.

My Rating: 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Additional Thoughts: It’s important to step away from life and enjoy a book. Reading as a family and finding something everyone will enjoy can be difficult. Fortunately, you are able to share this book. A caution though, there is mention of a sex tape so sharing with grade school children may want to be avoided.
