Length: 88 pages, Kindle edition

Publication Date: December 1, 2024

Dragon fans rejoice! Brett Salter has written a novella to keep us thinking about all things dragon. This novella is part of the wildly entertaining Talisman Series and I recommend reading at least the first book in the series prior to diving in. You can also check out my reviews of the other books in the series. I love them all.

In the first few books of the series, Mr. Jones is critical to the creation of dragon synergy. As the series progresses, Mr. Jones takes a more supportive role in the series. He is still important but in a different way. This novella occurs between book 2 and book 3. Mr. Jones is a wonderful wizard proving time after time that he is an integral part of the group hunting talismans. Unfortunately, his amazing skills do not extend into the world of technology. Back before he met Rome and Julian, Mr. Jones sent out a query to dragon believers on the internet. He never received any response. As he checks his email, he receives a response to his old query. He is anxious to respond. Mr. Jones knows there will be a battle soon and adding another participant to help their side would be an advantage. His proteges are in school, he knows he can manage this on his own. He packs some supplies and heads out to Antarctica. At arrival, he finds himself immediately thrown into a search for IceEyes27, the respondent to his email. Can he trust those that he meets on his journey or has he fallen into a trap? By himself, Mr. Jones has no one to rescue him, he must stay vigilant.

This novella is based on the magical universe of the Talisman Series. There will be dragons, wizards, Nocturns, and dragon hunters galore. I enjoyed this novella because it provides a deeper view of Mr. Jones’s character. He is stronger than I had previously believed and regardless of his technology issues, Mr. Jones does contribute to the goals of the hunt for Talisman. Logic and intelligence will solve problems too. As with all of Brett Salter’s books, there is a wonderful balance of humor and fantasy which will keep the readers turning pages in anticipation. This novella moves quickly and is the perfect appetizer for the next book in the Talisman Series. While this series is developed for the middle school reader, I like each of the stories. Enjoy!!

My Rating: 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻/5

Thank you Brett Salter for sharing your new novella with me. I promise to watch out for portals!
