If There’s a Mailbox in Heaven by Celeste Bowers

I received this book from Book Tasters and Celeste Bowers in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The Bowers family suffered an incredibly difficult tragedy, the death of their 10-year-old daughter. In the book “If There’s a Mailbox in Heaven”, Celeste Bowers shares the impact that her daughter Christina made on their family, friends, and acquaintances. Throughout the book, Celeste talks of the deep and abiding faith that they shared and how it lifted them up through some very dark days.

Christina was a very enthusiastic and energetic girl. She began to experience headaches and was diagnosed with cancer. Instead of being angry or resenting the diagnosis, Christina said “It’s not about me. It’s about God working through me.” This statement inspired so many people and the selfless love that Christina gave was proof of her faith. Although she lost the fight with cancer, she gained a heavenly home.

The anguish of a mother’s love is evident through every page of the book. Celeste opens her soul and pours her love of her daughter out on each page. In sharing her grief and healing, she shows us how she uses the experience for a greater good.

The first half of the book is memories, or letters, from Celeste to Christina. She recalls the good times Christina experienced and the tougher times through chemotherapy and illness all while being the best example of God’s love that she could possibly be. The second half of the book is comprised of letters from friends and family recalling their time with Christina or updating her on their lives. This book is so special and evokes such a feeling of love and tenderness.

My Rating: 🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

Additional Thoughts: Cherish your family and friends. As evidenced in this book and in recent circumstances, life can change in the blink of an eye.
