Don’t Look by Alexandra Ivy

I won this book from a GoodReads giveaway.

A serial killer is at work in Pike, Wisconsin. He kills his victims without hesitation. The town’s former sheriff sees the pattern and begins investigating. He contacts his son, Kir, attempting to explain what he has found. Kir believes that his father is hallucinating from his ongoing alcoholism and dismisses the call. The next call Kir receives is from his former hometown informing him that his father is dead, from an accidental fall in his home.

Kir returns to Pike for his father’s funeral and to deal with his father’s affairs. The local veterinarian, Dr. Lynne Gale, offers condolences to Kir. Childhood friends, Lynne and Kir spend time catching up. Soon, they are working together to find the killer. In such a small town, who could hide in plain sight?

Alexandra Ivy does a great job weaving romance and thrills together. The tension created by the killer increases with each page. The romance between Lynne and Kir only adds to the interest of the story. While there are numerous suspects, the manner in which the true killer is revealed is surprising. The person that seems to be the leading suspect isn’t and as any good thriller goes, the reader will be glad the obvious isn’t the killer and caught off guard at the real killer’s identity.

Don’t Look has a good cast of characters but there a several characters that could use a little more development. The story moves at a good pace and the ending is satisfying. This is book 1 in the Pike Wisconsin series by Alexandra Ivy. I look forward to seeing where this series goes and which characters are found in subsequent books.

My Rating: 🌻🌻🌻🌻

Additional Thoughts: I’m so excited to see how this series progresses. I found myself wondering about the person that was the killer but still was surprised by the revelation. There’s such a dynamic about small towns, it will be great to see how this plays into the overall series. Alexandra Ivey gives readers a thrilling start to a new series!
